Telesteps - Burnaby TV Commercial Production

(TV Commercial)

Telesteps makes telescoping ladders of various sizes, and they compete with similar products in retail locations across Canada. Gould Marketing wanted to create 15  second spots that would be a demonstration of the product in action. PPG suggested characters and locations to appeal to different target audiences, and 3 audiences came out of the mix: women who might use the ladder for domestic chores around the home, the professional/industrial trades, and men who might use it in a famliy home setting.

For the last idea, we noted how easy it was for one of our own children, aged 4, to pick up the collapsed ladder and transport it around. The first script we wrote centered around a child losing an object in a tree, and the Telesteps ladder becoming the solution. But the real challenge was, "How do we tell a story with only 10 seconds of video + 5 seconds for the client's tag?" We suggested a split-screen edit, which would allow the product's operating features and identifying marks to be communicated in detail, while also giving some focus to the characters who use the product. PPG handled scripting, casting, videography, and editing, while post-production music and voice-over were handled by Rob Crowston at Wordnoise!
